Home at last...

Once again I am really amazed at how the community in which I get to participate has rallied around our family. I am also amazed at exactly how big that community is. I feel very blessed to have all of you involved and investing in the life of my little family. And can I say that it is nice to be typing this from home? It is AWESOME to have my girls home. Now it feels like home again. I was home for a day or so earlier this week, but it never really felt like home. Maybe that's because home is where my girls are. Home is where the heart is, right?

We finally were able to bring Trinity home today, after she had one final check up at the opthamologist. The good news is that Trinity isn't blind. The other news is that her vision is not back to normal. Sometimes it looks like she is blind because she doesn't look directly at me even though she is smiling at me. It's still hard sometimes to be where we are.

But the great thing is that we are indeed home and Trinity continues to improve at an astounding rate. It is sort of funny that we get to relive Trinity's first nine months all over again, albeit at a much-increased rate. It seems like every time she wakes up there is a little more of her that comes out. It is great to see. I was worried that I would never get to see her radiant personality again. My neighbor mentioned this evening that it must have been scary as hell to see my daughter go through this. I think that I was never scared. I was too TERRIFIED to be scared. Which is why I know that faith in God is what brought me through. There was no way that I could have done it on my own. Even Autumn couldn't have carried me through; she had her on struggles to try and deal with.

But good can come from bad. Our little family has gone through quite a bit this last 13 days. Not that I'm counting or anything. But Autumn and I both feel like this whole experience has been an opportunity to grow as parents and people. Am I glad that this happened? HELL NO! I don't wish this on my worst enemy, but we have both learned and grown through the process.

We really appreciate all the support from every single one of you, even if you only read this blog. It has shown us a gracious and compassionate community that really loved us when we needed it. Thank you. We are home now and starting to get back on our feet. We appreciate that many of you will want to visit and see how things are going. We would love that. But in order to maximize our energy, we are going to open up our home this Saturday for visits. If you would like to drop by, we ask that you try and do so between the hours of 10 and noon. There is no guarantee that Trinity will be up, but feel free to drop in and say hi. I would love to say thank you in person.

And now without further ado, here is the picture of the day:

A bunch of nice folks made a great sign to welcome us home. Thanks so much for all the love!
