Road Trip!

We traveled top Spokane, Washington this last weekend for a couple of reasons. The first was to see some friends that Autumn and I don't see NEARLY enough. We stayed with them for a night and then moved downtown for the last two nights so that we would be close in to town for the start of Bloomsday. Bloomsday is a 12 kilometer road race that draws about 50,000 people each year. I know most of you don't like crowds, but it's hard to deny the kind of energy that comes from an even this large. Here's how the weekend played out:

It is almost always really cold the morning of the race. Tradition has it that you bring a shirt to keep warm and then chuck into a lilac tree as the race starts. They collect the shirts and donate them to the homeless, I think. Autumn forgot her disposable, so she ran with this after she took the long sleeves off. Cutie patootie!

The Kelleys joined us, even Kal's sister Joncee drove in from Montana to run with us.

The weather could not have been better, it was a beautiful sunny day! Here's smiles from two happy finishers! 10 people from Baker made the trip to Spokane, the results are here.

Normally we run Bloomsday, then pack up and head home. Not this year. We stayed through Monday, which made Sunday a really nice day. After the race, we went swimming at the hotel with the kids and then took them to the park after their naps. It was nice because by the time we got to the park, most everyone was gone. Above is a picture of Jen and Teagan at the carousel. Hopefully videos will be posted soon.

The girls sure liked the sea gulls and geese! It's a little hard to not be a little nervous with our not-so-graceful daughter that close to the river...

...and then there's the slide! It's a giant Radio Flyer with a slide for a handle...brilliant!

Lovin' the slide!

Go Ava, go!

Then to the coffee shop for a cake ball on a stick...yum!

Hmm, seeing these last two pictures of my family makes this:

...worth the effort!

So, the Kelley's flew up and they took Trinity back with them so that she (and we) didn't have to endure the long ride home. Teagan is an easier traveler right now for sure! Both Trinity and Ava wanted turns holding Teagan...

...Ava's turn! And now it's my turn, for bed that is! G'nite

  3. We would love to have you guys come up with us! We had some childcare for the race, so it was pretty laid back. It was a great time, although I wouldn't call it restful...

The funny part about the luggage is that we actually felt like we packed light for this trip! I think that it's the strollers...
